High Blood Pressure
One of the bigger things that has been lingering over my head for the past two weeks has been my blood pressure. When I went for my physical here at Marist, i was not cleared to practice with the team because my blood pressure was too high. It was consistently 150’s / 90’s.
So for the next two weeks I have had to train at a lesser duration and intensity, by myself for the most part. Monday was the big test for me as the doctor saw me after I had been on blood pressure medication for the past week and a half. The news was good, and I was allowed to take a “stress test”, a test on a treadmill that measure my blood pressure , my pulse and takes scans of my heart at different angles as I’m pushed to higher and higher levels of speed and grade on the treadmill.
I also passed this test and was cleared by my cardiologist to resume normal activities. To my frustration, I still have to be medically cleared by a Marist doctor on Thursday before being allowed to “officially” practice with the team. Hopefully everything goes smoothly when I visit him Thursday morning.
